Closure Arrangements of Public Libraries during the Chinese New Year

2026-02-06

In view of the library closure from 2:00 p.m. on Chinese New Year’s Eve until the third day of the Lunar New Year, as well as the regular Monday morning closure, all public libraries (except the Red Market Library) under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) will be closed for the entire day from 16th February (Monday) to 19th February, 2026 (Thursday).

The Red Market Library will remain open as usual during the Chinese New Year period, operating from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. the next day. All libraries will resume normal operation from 20th February (Friday) onwards.

To avoid overdue fines, readers are advised to renew borrowed library items two days prior to the due date via one of the following methods:

1.    “My Library” App;

2.    “My Borrowed Items” function on Macao One Account;

3.    Logging into the online library account;

4.    Visiting the service counter of any public library or using the Self Check machines.

After renewal, please take note of the updated due date. If the renewal is unsuccessful, please check the opening hours of each library and return the borrowed items on time.

For enquiries, please call 2825 9220 or 2856 7576 during counter service hours.
