Digital Collection Databases

Collection of Valuable Electronic Rare Books

To enhance public access to its rare and valuable collections, the Department of Public Library Management of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government has digitized and made available to the public its most valuable collections from the Macao Central Library, the Senado Library, and the Chinese Ancient Books Chamber at Sir Robert Ho Tung Library. These include 16 sets of books from the Jiaye Book Library Tower, formerly collected by Liu Chenggan during the Qing Dynasty; the Gazetteer of Xiangshan County, published during the reign of the Qing Emperor Qianlong; Regni Chinensis Descriptio, (Volume 1 of De Christiana expeditione apud Sinas, also known as History of Christian Expeditions in China); Robert Morrison’s A Dictionary of the Chinese Language, in Three Parts, and more. A total of 125 different types of rare books, comprising 858 volumes (with over 85,000 electronic images), have been made available as e-books on a dedicated reading platform.

Database of Periodicals Collection

including materials on 18 newspapers in the 18th and 19th centuries, about 68,000 pages of newspaper  collection of Macao Public Library.

including about 5,000 poster images of the library collection. 

Database of Macao Newspaper Clippings during the Second Sino-Japanese War (onsite only)

including over 6000 entries of Macao news during the Second Sino-Japanese War.
