Library Opening Notice

In response to the recent epidemic of the novel coronavirus, the Cultural Affairs Bureau has, upon careful deliberation, decided to partially reopen 12 of its public libraries starting from the 2nd of March (Monday). The main areas that will be reopened are the newspaper and periodicals reading areas, which provide newspaper reading facilities, as well as loan and reservation services. The loan period for books that should have been returned between the 24th of January and the 12th of March has been extended until the 1st of April. Therefore, residents do not need to rush to return the books to the library.

The multimedia rooms, children’s reading areas, Macao Collection Room, reading areas, self-study rooms, and group discussion rooms of the library will not be reopened to the public. All visitors entering the library are required to wear their own masks, undergo body temperature checks, fill out the Personal Health Declaration for registration. Crowd control measures will also be applied in the library; visitors will have to take a service ticket which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of visitors exceeds the established limits, they will be required to queue outside the library. The daily opening hours of all operating libraries will be split into three periods. All users must leave the libraries during the intervals for cleaning and disinfection of the opened areas. The reading tables will be cleaned and disinfected every hour.
