Accessible Toilet
Accessible toilet facilities are provided in the library for wheelchair users and persons with disabilities, ensuring safe and convenient use.
Desktop Electronic Magnifier
The desktop electronic magnifier, which provides 100 times magnification, is installed at the major libraries for readers in need. The user-friendly facility offers many colour select options, including full colour, greyscale, and high-contrast black on white or white on black images. It allows you to pivot and adjust the screen to your most comfortable viewing position. The facility is attached with a movable table for the convenience of reading and writing.
Magnifying Glass
Magnifying glasses are available in the library for readers who may require them.
Induction Loop Kit System
The induction loop kit system is easy to operate. By simply using the handset, hearing impaired people can obtain the maximum intelligibility in the conversation between the library staff through the amplifier of the system. People with T-coil hearing aids can place the handset directly against their hearing aids for pairing. The system magnetically transfers the voice of library staff into the hearing aids, allowing the users to have a clear hearing experience.
Reading Device for the Visually Impaired
The devices can assist those who have difficulty reading or who are visually impaired to reduce their reading handicap by “listening” to the written text, and to use the services and resources of the Macau Public Library in a more convenient manner. The reading devices are easy to operate: they are equipped with large touch-control buttons and feature voice navigation prompts for every available step and option. Users only need to place a book or paper text under the lens of the device, press the scan button and the device will scan the text using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. Users can then follow the voice prompts, press the play button and listen to the content through a set of earphones. Users may also adjust the speed and volume of the audio to accommodate their personal listening habits and achieve a more suitable listening effect.
Accessible Ramp
The library is accessible to wheelchair users, facilitating their entry. Staff at the circulation counter are always ready to assist wheelchair users in retrieving library materials.
Elevator
The library is equipped with lifting platforms to enable users with disabilities to access different floors.
