Preface

　　American music legend Bob Dylan secured 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature with his pop music lyrics, marking the canonisation of popular culture. Book lovers should likewise keep up with the trend. This issue of Books & the City is therefore themed around 'Books of the Celebrities' and will introduce some books encompassing celebrities and superstars in order to associate popular culture with books.

　　In order to keep pace with social development, the Red Market Library is offering a 24-hour service to cater for Macao residents who live busy and fast-paced lives. The new service will be presented in 'Lingering in the Library'. We are now preparing for the construction of the new Central Library in the endeavour to sketch a landscape of reading for the 21st century. 'Highlight Event' will introduce the exhibition on the new Central Library project.
